Founders

The doors to "Dayton Osteopathic Hospital," opened in 1926. The three physicians at 325 West Second Street were William Gravett D.O., Heber Dill D.O., and Frank Dilatush D.O.

Larger Hospital Needed

In 1947 a site on Grand Avenue was purchased and a 65-bed hospital was dedicated. Two years later a new wing was added, increasing the number of beds to 90.

Dayton Residents Raise Funds For Expansion

In 1950 a public campaign was initiated to raise funds providing a total of $450,000. With these funds, Grandview built a new addition increasing the number of beds to 165 and 21 bassinets.

More Space Needed

A maternity wing was added by the late 1950's along with medical library, conference hall, and additional office space. This space was soon outgrown and in November of 1962 two new floors were opened. The new bed total was 301 and 56 bassinets.

Growth Continues

A $5.5 million project was completed in 1971 and 66 beds were added. The main buildings were connected to the Annex and still more space was needed. In 1984 a six-story addition was completed.

As the times have changed so has Grandview. Our staff is here to care for you in attractive, semi-private rooms. In addition, Grandview boasts the largest number of primary care physicians in our area which means more physicians for you to choose from. Grandview currently has 411 number of beds and many additional services including weight loss surgery, cardiac cath, joint replacement surgery, stroke certified ER services and an award winning sports medicine program.

You'll feel like part of our family when you visit us. Our quality compassionate care and superior survival rates have earned Grandview Medical Center several quality and service awards.
